September 24, 2022 Summary --

Match 1: KESD North Lyndon - 1 & St. Johnsbury - 3

The 5/6 boys of KESD North (Lyndon) had their work cut out for them on a beautiful Fall morning at the Lyndon jamboree. They were lower on numbers and key players, as they took on two back to back strong matches against St. Johnsbury and then Twinfield/Cabot.

In their first match, Lyndon KESD held their ground defensively against a heavy striking St. Johnsbury. Not only were they able to shut St. Jay down defensively, thanks to goaltending from Grayson Bias, as well as the strong defensive line. Lyndon was even able to end the half with a great goal scored by Pace Mckinnon. 

However, their lack in numbers caught up to them in the second half and were not able to maintain the fast pace momentum. The final score was 3-1. Luca Bianco did his best in goal and made some great stops. “I am proud of this team’s efforts. I knew that this was going to be a tough match and thought it wasn’t going to be pretty with the lack of subs today. Our team rose to the occasion and put on a valiant effort, as they always kept themselves in it” said Coach Bias. 

Match 2: KESD North Lyndon - 0 & Twinfield/Cabot - 2

“Our team were still gassed for this next match up, but they marched on as best as they could” said Coach Bias. They started out strong keeping things notched up at zeros by the end of the first half. The goal was locked down by Trent Ainsworth. Even though our offense worked hard, it was our defensive line that made things challenging for the opposing team, which was made up with the rotation of Bryce Bechanan,Korbin Kirchoff, Frederic Holland, Cannon Warstler. “An outstanding job by our stopper spot, which was shared between Matt Taylor and Reid Moriarty. They all took charge and cleared the ball out of our zone in a hurry” said Coach Bias

Again, the fatigue set in during the second half, as Twin/Cabot were able to sneak in 2 goals on Lyndon. The goalie position in the second half was shared between Trent and for the first time this season by Korbin. Lyndon had several close ones in the opponent's zone, but were unable to find the back of their goal. 

“Back to back losses are tough, but I felt that we showed a lot of great potential today. If we continue to work hard and all get healthy again, we should be able to see plenty of close matches and some more ‘W’s throughout this season” says Coach Bias.
