In Concord in the steady rain, Poppy Beniash scored in the first half for South, which was playing its season opener. Danville got the equalizer with two minutes to play in a back-and-forth battle. Kenzi Lasnier was a rock in the back and Lucy Chase was everywhere in the midfield for the hosts. Tanner Kittredge and Brynn Bullard stood tall in splitting time in net. Adrienne Ranney, Izzy Parker, Lyra Simonds, Chloe Johnson and Lily Patoine all provided key minutes and moments for KESD, which had one sub.

South (0-0-1) meets KESD North on Thursday in Concord.
